Thinking About It

When I mentioned to my daughter, Teri, about quitting the blog, she suggested that I continue with it because it is simpler than Facebook. So for the time being, while I decide, I will continue to blog on this site. Let me know what you think. I don't want to act like a special person to have my own site. Barb

  1. I don't feel that continuing with this blog is promoting yourself Barbara. I see it as therapy. Because it's not substituting for warm association with friends and family. It's an outlet for you to talk about and work through difficult feelings.

I have to admit that I am on Facebook so I can primarily keep in touch with relatives following a tragic double death in our family. My "friends" are ONLY people I have known personally. NEVER strangers - even if they claim to be JWs. I don't personally play any games. I've been on the site for one year without incident. But I totally agree it's not for everyone.

I understand this is a personal decision. Whatever you ultimately decide - I hope you continue to put your feelings into words. It does help in working through grief. Even if you finally resort to personal emails and/or letter writing it's ok.

It is heartwarming to be able to be in touch with you from so far away.

    Love you very much

I would read it on either Facebook or here. I don't think it's promoting yourself. It's therapeutic for you and for the rest of us too. You're an incredible source of spiritual strengthening through it as well.

  5. Sister Baty: Everyone wants to know how you are doing and I think it's a good way for you to continue to help all of us focus on spiritual things. Many others who have faced similar situations have turned away from friends and more sadly, even Jehovah. So for us who love you, reading about how you continue on each day, adjusting and growing in your new phase of life, will help us to reflect on what we would do, what we ARE doing. For each one of us faces some taunt from Satan, some threat to our spirituality. But as we "contemplate your faith" and see how you benefit, we can all take it to heart. Many friends have chosen to stay off of Facebook, as a precaution, and so they might miss out on hearing your strengthening words. But whatever you decide, we will all support you. I never felt your words were ever about "you", but about how Jehovah and your faith have upheld you and given you strength. Much the same as a life story in the WT. Only, yours is a living story, happening before our eyes! We treasure it and it helps us to stay connected to you. We love you and thank you for sharing your story with us. Hugs,
    Amy, Harvey and Kids

  6. Dear Sister Baty,

I also think the blog is a good outlet for you. I personally like the blog, rather then face book, it seems more private. The choice is yours, you could even re-name it if you wanted to!!!

    Love you,

    Carol L
